Myron Sutton for Sheriff "Quality Policing for Newton County"
|
Sheriff of Newton County 1999-2007
|
Sheriff Myron Sutton has devoted his entire professional career to public
service and he has done it well. Myron completed his second consecutive
term as the elected Sheriff of Newton County December 31, 2007. Limited
legislatively from seeking a third consecutive term, Myron returned back into
the ranks of the sheriff's department as the Lieutenant-Detective. Myron
retired from the department with over nineteen years of public service in
March of 2007. After retirement, Myron took employment as a special
investigator for a labor-management group, the Indiana, Illinois, Iowa
Foundation for Fair Contracting. Myron investigates publicly funded
construction projects and allegations of improper funding and unethical
business practices. Myron still stays active in local government and serves as
an executive board member for Newton County's Economic Development
Commission.
Myron's career in law enforcement and his experiences as sheriff have given
him a sensible and realistic approach to government. Sheriff Sutton is both
educated and experienced in management and fiscal responsibility. Managing
line item budgets that exceed millions of dollars annually, Myron will take the
knowledge of local issues with him to the State House and make decisions
that are in the best interest of our residents.
Throughout Myron's career he has received an education from many
professional organizations, including graduate level business and management
classes from Northwestern University. Myron is married and he and his
wife, Michelle, have two children, their daughter, Joanna, and their son,
Jason, who is a Junior at South Newton High School.
